Emerson Keller is a 17-year-old basketball trick-shot creator, podcast host, and sports entrepreneur from San Antonio who stepped off the traditional AAU/highlight-reel path to build her own platform instead. Her YouTube channel has crossed 400,000 subscribers, and she's the founder of Elite HoopHers, a community built to give young girls and complete beginners a judgment-free way into the sport.
Emerson didn't start playing basketball until right before middle school, after giving up two other sports she loved. She found that basketball let her express creativity the other two didn't — and rather than compete for a traditional AAU/highlight-reel path, she turned to trick shots, becoming one of the first girls to develop the style, pulling early inspiration from male trick-shot creators before building her own following. Her content spans YouTube, Snapchat, and Instagram, scouting local basketball courts and architecture to invent new trick shots, sometimes spending hours or days on a single shot before it lands.
She's the founder of Elite HoopHers — the "hers" is intentional — a community built to encourage young girls and complete beginners to pick up the sport regardless of experience. The mentorship extends beyond content: she's hosted Zoom calls for kids working through family and personal struggles similar to what she's navigated herself, describing her own approach as turning post-traumatic stress into what she calls post-traumatic growth. She also hosts her own podcast, runs a merch line, and has partnered with brands including Taloviz Basketball and Gamebag Store. Because she's a minor, her accounts are co-managed with a parent/guardian.
She's balancing all of it with her senior year of high school in San Antonio, where she's set to graduate in 2027.
